Pewee Valley Growing Strong
This 2001 brochure, which highlights some of Pewee Valley's oldest and most unusual trees, was made possible through a federal grant given to the City of Pewee Valley by the Kentucky State Division of Forestry and "the gracious consideration of Town Council." The brochure was authored by the City's Tree Board (editor's note: now the Environmental Board) with the help of Bill Herdt, Louise "Sis" Marker, Pewee Valley Historian Virginia "Gin" Chaudoin, B. and Tom Murphy, Matthews Fletcher, Paul Clinton and the Oldham County Historical Society.
Sadly, some of the featured trees, including the magnificent Siberian Elm that once shaded the entrance to the 314 Exchange, have been lost to storms and old age since its publication.
