1879 Beers & Lanagan Atlas of O'Bannons & Anchorage
O'Bannons was once part of Pewee Valley and according to local folklore was the site of Pewee Valley's first store. The original log structure has been relocated to the Head House property on Main Street in historic Middletown, Ky. The log store may have been where Daily Courier publisher Walter N. Haldeman anxiously awaited word from Louisville on whether or not he would be arrested for treason during the early days Civil War.
Around 1906, the log store was replaced by E.J. Clore and R.T. Collins with a modern building incorporating Classical Revival motifs. Clore and Collins operated a grocery store in their new building before selling it to the Mossburger family in the 1920s. Still located on Old LaGrange Road at Collins Lane, the store has been substantially remodeled and is used today as a veterinary clinic.
