Pewee Valley Cemetery Division of Lots & Graves for Colored People, 1872-1913
Pewee Valley Cemetery originally kept records of burials in the African-American section of the graveyard. However, once the section split off and became Pewee Valley Cemetery East, recordkeeping by the Pewee Valley Cemetery Company ceased. These early burial records from the African-American burying ground were made available to the Pewee Valley Historical Society by the late B. Utley Murphy, who served on the Pewee Valley Cemetery board for many years.
