Only two of these historic homes (The Locust and the Wooldridge-Rose House) are on the National Register of Historic Places. Historic Pewee Valley, Inc. was unable to get this area designated as a National Historic Register District in 1989 due to opposition from property owners in the district, who feared it would limit future development opportunities. The Locust was individually nominated to the National Register in 1975 and the Wooldridge-Rose House in 2006.
