Mary Ware Doll Book
Publisher L.C. Page & Co. promoted The Mary Ware Doll Book as, "An artistic series of paper dolls, including not only the lovable Mary Ware, the Little Colonel's chum, but many another of the much loved characters that appeared in the last three volumes of the famous Little Colonel series, namely 'Mary Ware: The Little Colonel's Chum,' 'Mary Ware in Texas' and 'Mary Ware's Promised Land.'"
A description of the book appeared in "The Bookseller, Newsdealer and Stationer" magazine, Volume 41, Excelsior Publishing House, 1914:
The Mary Ware Doll Book, by Annie Fellows Johnston, is a companion volume to the "Little Colonel Doll Book." Every other page is blank, the right hand pages having colored dolls representing the characters and costumes from the book of the "Little Colonel Series." These are to be cut out—directions for doing so being given—and the young owner of the novel book has a group of boy and girl paper dolls representing the beloved "Mary Ware" and those closely associated with her. There are four boy and seven girl dolls. Each doll and each costume has a page to itself. Children will have a delightful time cutting them out. They are printed on fine quality heavy coated paper and there is an easel upon which each figure may be pasted, thus making it stand. The book is bound in boards and designed and painted by W. M. Crocker, and will be an excellent seller for gift purposes. $1.50. (The Page Company.)
